How can I get a bad thought out of my brain?
Ever lay down to go to sleep and a bad thought enters your brain? Okay, I’ll define bad…a thought that you don’t want to have. For example, if you watch a scary movie before bed…your mind continues racing for a while as you try and sleep.
I’m posing this as a question that someone can answer for me…potentially an expert? Okay, prolly not going to happen, but dare to dream I suppose.
So here is my totally untrained un-scientific ‘hunch of a theory(s)’…
What if your body has the ability to release chemicals into your brain that would in essense dull those racing thoughts that you can’t get out of your conscienous mind?
What if there is a way to meditate to get the unwated thoughts out of your head? …like mentally just putting your head in a place…
Bottom line is that I watched a few scary movies in a short period of time, and both times I had trouble getting the thoughts out of my head to fall asleep in bed. There has to be a method of meditation or something to put your mind at ease even after a scary movie…right?
If anyone knows about it (lol, as if this is blog is broadcasting to folks all over the world)…I’d love to hear more about your theories…

You’ve already scarred your thoughts with disturbing images. This also happens with memories, good and bad. They will haunt you in your dreams and your thoughts will twist them farther than you can imagine.

You can learn to still your mind. If you haven’t practiced meditation prior, you are best off starting on focusing exercises first (every day) for a couple months.
One common exercise is candle concentration for 10 min (you can use a timer). You can keep a taper candle 2 ft away from the edge of a table in a well lit room. You sit on a chair in front of the candle. You concentrate on the flame during this time marking a tick mark for every thought you have. This will also you to slow your thoughts. Gradually, you gain more control over your thoughts this way. Eventually, you can move on to meditation. This is something there is much online and offline info on.
Best of luck w/stilling!

I forgot to mention something very important that the goal of the candle concentration is to have as few tick marks at the end of the 10 min as possible.

BTW, the question should be, how can I get a bad thought out of my mind not brain. There is a difference.
